Experience of My Son Manas as a Self Learner

Did you know Thomas Edison, Alexander graham bell and Leonardo da Vinci had never gone to school or any learning institution. And tech geniuses like jobs had dropped out of college.

Some people think that the only way for a child to learn is to go to school, but there is another way, homeschooling. Have you ever thought about learning what you want, when you want, specialising in a particular subject or not attending classes that don't matter to you. 

While I was in school I was mostly bored of the repetition and schedules of the school. The last 3 years of my life have been my happiest and to an extent the most productive years of my life.

Kids get personalised studies so the gifted can move as fast as they can and the strugglers can take their time and move it slow.

For me I tried to move as fast as I could and didn't have a schedule so the days weren't repetitive. I did a lot of reading in this time especially with kindle, I read all of the Harry Potter, and some entrepreneurial books. Knowing about how gates, jobs and buffet was not only interesting, it kind of inspired me.

Without the games period physical education must go down the drain, right? Well for me, I was a little slow but now I am a little faster. I mainly learnt two sports which are basketball and soccer.

Without the hours at school that I felt I wasted by doing nothing I was able to learn and appreciate different forms of art like music, dance and movies and how much work goes into making them.

Some of you might think that socialising is difficult for kids who are homeschooled but it's the exact opposite really, making friends and socialising is easier without the workload of the school. I learned to interact  freely with kids of all ages but I still have a little problem with grown ups.

In the end I love homeschooling and I wish to keep doing it for 1 more year and to keep moving forward towards my goal of studying Palaeo-zoology (branch of zoology dealing with the recovery of ancient multicellular animals), preserving our biodiversity and being an all around happy person.
